There is no one-plan-fits-all when it comes to performance. We are all individuals, with individual goals, strengths, weaknesses, and requirements. I believe building a strong athlete-coach relationship is key to success and that all starts with communication.
I structure and personalize your training plan to ensure it creates a holistic healthy balance in your life. The training is built around your schedule and personal obligations with the goal to optimize, not maximize.

The art to coaching is to create a plan that creates the right amount of stress at the right time (stimulus) that requires the least amount of recovery for you to be able to repeat. Stress is stress for your body, whether it’s from training or life, and that is why the athlete-coach relationship is critical to find the right balance.

I stay on top of all the scientific literature and use data to guide me in the right direction. Above all, I coach with empathy.
I believe having empathy is key. It takes an incredible amount of discipline and dedication to grind it out block after block, and you need your coach to be your biggest supporter, helping you through the tough times and celebrating your success.
I turned professional at 21 with Team MTN-Qhubeka and spent eight years racing at the highest level, four Grand Tours, five Monuments including Paris-Roubaix and Tour of Flanders, and professional wins across Europe and Africa. Before turning pro I won multiple South African National Championship titles across all age groups and disciplines. I lined up alongside teammates like Mark Cavendish, Serge Pauwels, Louis Meintjes, and Steve Cummings, riders who defined what World Tour racing looks like at its highest level. I was known as a rider who would turn himself inside out for his team leaders, race after race, kilometre after kilometre.
I also know what it means to overcome injury at the exact moment you feel untouchable. That experience, the sacrifice, the discipline, the comeback, is as much a part of how I coach as any power file.
What I bring that most coaches can't: I've lived every kilometre of this sport from the inside, through each and every single age category. And I've never forgotten that you are a human being first, not a CTL score.
